Walking is hard

Have you ever actually tried to think about walking?  It's really complicated.

You start walking by leaning forward until you start to fall over. Then you throw one leg out to catch yourself while simultaneously kicking the other one off the ground behind you to start falling over again for the next step.

You've got to swing your arms in opposite directions to legs so you don't spin around, compensate for changes in the angle and composition of the ground, watch for other objects that might run into you and figure out dodge them.

It's truly amazing that we can stand up at all. Sometime it's important to remember the little victories.

Runners starting a race

Don't even get me started on running; There's a period of flight involved!

Learning to walk is harder

Now that you've had some time to process how difficulty it is to pilot our bag of bones and muscle let's think spare a thought for those who haven't had as much practice.

Kids grow so fast, every time they wake up all their limbs are a different length. Maybe not a lot, but certainly enough to make movement awkward.

If you aren't sure whether your kid's walking is actual weird or just normal weird, then maybe it's time to have us take a look.
